I've recently updated it My machine is on Ubuntu Linux Fiesty 7. The latest version of seadas does the same. I've tried with different kernel version, but it does the same, it crashes when I want to run seadas and display a file: IDL Version 6.

SeaDAS Version 5. Segmentation fault core dumped DO you know what goes wrong? I'm not an expert in Linux or seadas, I just know only the very very very basics I would appreciate simple explanations Thanks in advance, hydro. Regards, Norman P.

I am also attaching the color palette table that I used in my example. Attachment: commands. Attachment: chl0. By gnwiii Date I see Norman has already suggested using GMT. It is a command line tool, so if you are comfortable with the linux command line you have a big start on learning to use GMT.

The GMT site has many examples. Thanks Norman and WhiteG. Norman, I used your program as a starting point but for some reason I am not getting the desired result.

Also I have some questions, as how I specify the pixel resolution km x pix Do you know any other documentation about it besides the one in gmt website? Thanks for your help; Gabriel. There is a GMT users mailing list that is very helpful.

There is a bit of a disconnect between the GIS community, who think in terms of distances e. Hi Gabriel, Between the online man pages, cookbook, tutorial, and mailing list that George mentioned, the GMT documentation offers a wealth of information.

If you are, in fact, able to run the programs I mentioned but are not getting the expected results, then I suspect that this is because of differences in our GMT default settings.

See the following for more information on GMT defaults. You can find an electronic version of that document at the following location.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I got it working for chlorophyl. But now I am facing another issue. When I checked the hdf generated by l2gen for chlorophyll the values are floating but when I checked the sst values they are integers. Is there a way to force l2gen to generate floatings? Thanks; Gabriel. Chlorophyll happens to be one that we output as a float. I attach an example that does the conversion with perl along with the resulting image.
